Brayden El-Bakri is a 6’0” 215 pound running back for the BYU football team (Class of 2012). He redshirted prior to an LDS mission (Uruguay, Montevideo West) and is hoping to get some reps as a freshman walk-on for the 2015 season.
El-Bakri prepped at Brighton High School, where as a junior he had 204 yards rushing, one touchdown reception, 80 total tackles, and one interception. He was named to the Deseret News 5A all-state second team as a defensive back. As a senior he ran for 566 yards and 7 touchdowns, had 10 receptions for 118 yards, and recorded 79 total tackles. He was named to the Deseret News 5A all-state second team as a linebacker. He also played baseball and lacrosse for Brighton.
El-Bakri was not rated by Rivals, Scout, or ESPN. He originally walked-on (2012) as a linebacker but he could play running back as well.
