Week 2 for High School football 2015 is now in the books. Here’s a quick look at how BYU’s Class of 2016 (and 2017) commitments did.
Class of 2016 Commits (listed alphabetically)
Solofa Funa, LB for Spanish Fork High School (Spanish Fork, UT). Spanish Fork lost a close one to nonregion foe Orem 25-28 to go 1-1 so far this season. Season stats (1 game, this week not yet available): 5 rushes for 53 yards, 3 tackles, 1 interception
Jaren Hall, QB for Maple Mountain High School (Spanish Fork, UT). Hall threw the game winning touchdown with 8 seconds left to raise Maple Mountain to a 31-30 victory over Corner Canyon. For the game he went 19-37 (.514) for 212 yards, two touchdowns, and four interceptions. He also rushed 15 times for 175 yards and one touchdown. Season stats (2 games): 35-63 passing (.555) for 385 yards, 4 TDs with 4 INT; 23 carries for 207 yards and 2 TDs. See the game winning throw and his impressive 60 yard touchdown run below:

Aleva Hifo, CB/WR for Heritage High (Menifee, CA). Heritage started their season with an impressive 35-13 win over Great Oak (Temecula, CA). Hifo had a 33-yard touchdown catch, with another TD called back.
Drew Jensen, QB/S for Brighton (Salt Lake City, UT). Brighton squeaked by Fremont 28-26 to start the season 2-0. Unfortunately, Jensen did not play as he is out for several weeks (and possibly the entire season) with a posterior collateral ligament (PCL) injury incurred during week one. Season stats (1 game): 8-24 passing (.333) for 142 yards and 1 TD with 3 INT; 6 carries for 3 yards and 0 TDs.
Wayne Kirby, DT/DE for Highland High School (Pocatello, ID). The Highland Rams started their season off with a 28-21 victory over American Fork (UT). Kirby had a fumble recovery and a partial sack. BYU basketball commit Connor Harding also had a solid outing, throwing 22-30 for 191 yards, 2 TDs and an one interception in the victory.
Darius McFarland, DE for Box Elder High School (UT). The Bees lost another close one, falling to Syracuse 17-14 to 0-2 in the early season. McFarland almost singlehandedly kept Box Elder in contention, carrying the ball 19 times for 73 yards and catching three passes for 64 yards and a touchdown. Season stats (2 games): 1 rushing TD, 1 receiving TD
Skyler Southam, K for Wasatch High School (Heber City, UT). Wasatch fell 38-9 to Westlake during week two, evening out their record at 1-1. Southam did all he could, going 3-3 on field goals, including a 46 yarder. Season Stats (2 games); 3-3 PATs, 5-5 FGs (long of 46 yards).
Jonah Trinnaman, WR for Snow College (Ephraim, UT). The Badgers kicked off their season with a 24-21 victory over Mesa Community College. Trinnaman had one rush for -6 yards and five receptions for 118 yards and a touchdown. He also recurned two kickoffs for 38 yards (19 yard average). Moose Bingham (transfer from BYU) had a field goal and 47 yard average on 7 punts. Season stats (1 game): 1 rush, -6 yards, 0 TDs; 5-118 receiving, 1 TD; 2 kickoff returns, 38 yards.
Hank Tuipulotu, TE for Nation Ford High School (Fort Mill, SC). Nation Ford fell to Boiling Springs 42-26 to drop to 0-2 so far this season. Tuipulotu had one carry for three yards and 4 receptions for 42 yards. Season Stats (2 games): 2-6 rushing, 0 TDs; 8-84 receiving, 0 TDs.
Class of 2017 Commits
Jackson McChesney, RB/WR for Lone Peak High School (Alpine, UT). Lone Peak continued a strong start to the season with a convincing 35-14 victory over Timpview, snapping Timpview’s 27-game winning streak. McCheseney was a big part of that rushing 7 times for 20 yards and a TD. Season stats (2 games): 7 rushes for 20 yards and 2 TDs.
