3-star TX receiver gets a BYU offer: Zach Farrar (Class of 2016)

Zach Farrar is a 6’4” 208 pound wide receiver/safety prospect for the Class of 2016 that was recently offered a scholarship to play for the BYU football team.  Most probably consider him a long shot (he currently has 21 other offers), but he works out with former BYU wide receiver Margin Hooks, and BYU has done pretty well recruiting in the state of Texas over the last few seasons.

Farrar preps at Southlake High School, where as a junior he caught 29 passes for 554 yards and three touchdowns. This season (through eight games) he has 35 receptions for 681 yards (19.5 ave.) and 12 touchdowns. He’s also 2-2 throwing the ball for 44 yards. In baseball he was a 2014 Perfect Game USA Underclassmen All-American high honorable mention.

Farrar is rated 3-stars by Rivals and Scout, and ESPN (grade of 72). He currently holds 22 total scholarship offers, from: Air Force, Boston College, BYU, Fresno State, Illinois, Iowa, Liberty, Louisiana Tech, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana-Monroe, Maryland, Nebraska, North Texas, Purdue, SDSU, SMU, Texas State, Texas Tech, Texas-San Antonio, Toledo, Tulsa, and Washington. He has also been recruited by Arkansas, Baylor, Colorado, Houston, Indiana, LSU, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas A&M, and UCLA. Farrar has potential to play baseball at the next level and both Texas Tech and Washington have given him the option of playing both sports.
