Dayan Lake is a BYU football commit from the high school Class of 2015. He is projected as the #3/4 cornerback and could also see some time on special teams in 2015.
A native of Liberia, Africa, Lake prepped at Northridge High School, where he was a four year football player on both the offense (running back, receiver) and the defense (defensive back, kick returns). As a sophomore he had 90 tackles and rushed for 311 yards and a touchdown. He was named to the Region 1 first-team. As a junior he had 694 yards rushing with five touchdowns and another 722 yards receiving on 60 receptions and four touchdowns. On defense he had 56 tackles, two sacks, and an interception. He was named the Deseret News 5A All-State second team, and Salt Lake Tribune 5A All-State team. As a senior he averaged 164.4 rush/receiving yards per game and 41.5 yards per kickoff return. He blocked eight kicks and only allowed four completions from the cornerback position. He was named the Deseret News 5A Region 1-All-Region Co-Offensive MVP, and a 5A all-state first team selection. In track he holds the Northridge school records in the 100m (11.16) and in the 200m (22.45). He also completed in the long jump and played on the basketball team.
“Dayan is one of the more unique football players to ever play in the state,” Northridge coach Erik Thompson told MaxPreps. “He’s good at everything. I’ve never seen anyone who impacts the game in more different ways. The key to his importance to the team is the diversity he brings. He’s like a Swiss Army knife.”
