Beau Tanner is a 6-foot-0 188 pound wide receiver who will join the BYU football team this fall as part of the Class of 2016. Tanner was recruited by BYU out of Shadow Mountain High School back in 2013, but was signed by Kentucky. Unfortunately, in a ruling that was later reversed he was declared ineligible for a D1 scholarship out of high school.
Tanner prepped at Shadow Mountain High School, where as a junior he had 30 receptions for 485 yards (16.2 ave) and four touchdowns. As a senior in 2012 he had 41 receptions for 1,056 yards and 13 touchdowns. He was named to the All-Region, All-Phoenix, All-Division, and All-State teams. Tanner was not rated by Rivals, Scout, or ESPN, but held scholarship offers from Kentucky, Texas Tech, UCLA, and USU. He was also recruited by BYU and Cal.
Tanner played at Scottsdale Community College in 2013, where he had 23 receptions for 401 yards (17.4 ave) and four touchdowns. He also returned ten kicks for 204 yards (20.4 ave). He served an LDS mission in the El Salvador and Salt Lake City East missions. At BYU he currently has four years to play three seasons, but BYU may appeal to get him a fourth year due to his status mix-up out of High School.
