BYU Basketball Commit: Elijah Bryant (Class of 2016)

Elijah Bryant is a 6’4” 225 pound guard commit for the BYU basketball Class of 2016, making his commitment public on July 28th, 2015 via Instagram.

Bryant last played for Elon University where he was the Colonial Athletic Association rookie of the year, the first in Elon history to earn such an honor. He led Elon in scoring with 14.2 points per game and averaged 4.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. Following his rookie season he was named to the All-caa third-team and the CAA All-Rookie team. After announcing his transfer Bryant was offered scholarships from Butler, BYU, Dayton, Miami, and Texas A&M. He will sit out the 2015-16 season per transfer rules and then will have three years to play three.

Bryant prepped at Mill Creek (GA) where he averaged 20 points and 9 assists per game as a senior. He set the school record with 60 steals in a season, with nine coming in one game. Post graduation Bryant moved to New Hampshire to attend the New Hampton School where he averaged 13 points and four assists in 2013-14, leading the Huskies to the NEPSAC AAA final game. Bryant wasn’t rated by Rivals, Scout, or ESPN, however, he was still widely recruited, receiving scholarship offers from Elon, Gardner-Webb, Loyola, New Hampshire, Samford, and Vermont.
