Darius Wise is a Class of 2017 prospect for both the BYU football (RB) and basketball (PG) teams. He has been offered a football scholarship but has expressed interest in playing both sports at the next level. Wise preps at Beaver Area High School in Beaver, PA. As a freshman receiver rusher he scored 16 TDs on 779 yards receiving and 415 yards rushing. His freshman basketball season was just as impressive as he started for the varsity team. In track he finished sixth in WPIAL Class AA in the 100-meter dash. As a sophomore he played quarterback, running back, in the slot, split wide, and kick returner. He rushed for 303 yards (4 TDs) had five receptions for 229 yards (5 TDs). Wise recovered from a football injury to have a stellar sophomore basketball where he averaged over 19 points per game and had a few double doubles (points and rebounds) despite often being the shortest player on the court. As a sophomore he placed seventh in the AA division of the PIAA track and field championships, with an 11.31 100-meter time and anchored the winning WPIAL team.
Scout, Rivals, and ESPN has not yet rated him for basketball. In football he has received interest from BYU, Ohio State, Penn State, Pitt, Syracuse, Temple, and West Virginia, with BYU being the first to offer a scholarship. In basketball he has seen interest from Arizona and Maryland. Wise is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints but his mission plans are unknown. In the family he lives with both of his guardians attended BYU.
