BYU Basketball Commit: Nick Emery (Class of 2014)

emery_nick_profileNick Emery is a 6’2″, 180 lb. point guard commit to BYU basketball’s Class of 2014.  He played High School basketball at Lone Peak High School where he won three straight 5A state championships (2011-13). A four year starter Emery averaged 19.9 points in his High School career. After his sophomore season he was named Gatorade State Player of the Year in Utah (the only sophomore to ever earn that award). After his junior season he earned a spot on the ESPN HS Underclass All-America team. As a senior he averaged 21 points per game, won the Deseret News’ Mr. Basketball award, and was MVP of the Lone Peak team that was awarded the Max Preps National Championship. Emery was rated the 45th player in the 2013 class by ESPN and was recruited by UCLA, Kansas, North Carolina, and Oklahoma State.

nick_emeryEmery served an LDS mission in Frankfurt, Germany, the first 18 year-old BYU basketball recruit to leave straight from High School. While serving he suffered from thoracic outlet syndrome and returned to the United States in August 2014 for a few surgeries. He returned to German but was forced to complete his mission a few months early due to further complications. He returned to Utah on January 5, 2014. It is anticipated that he will be fully recovered by fall 2015.
