Prep Tracker, Week 13: The McChesney brothers heat up

prep_trackerIt was a big weekend for the McChesney brothers with Austin getting his first career interception in BYU’s 20-3 victory over Cincinnatti before leaving the game with a season-ending knee injury.  Meanwhile, younger brother Jackson put on a show with 95 rushing yards and a touchdown to go along with a season high seven receptions for 138 receiving yards and two more touchdowns in Lone Peak’s quarterfinal victory over Jordan.

Other notable prep performances for the week include: Donovan Hanna (one 15 yard reception and nine tackles), Ammon Hanneman (seven tackles and an interception), Brandon Kaho (28 carries for 122 yards and two touchdowns), and Apu Ika (a season high seven tackles).  Game summaries for each of the Cougar commits are listed below.

Class of 2017 commits (listed alphabetically)

  • Tanner Baker (TE/DE, Alatoona HS, @TBAKE32). Allatoona (5-5 5-2) fell to Dalton 24-22. They meet Lanier in the playoffs this weekend.   Baker is out for the season with a knee injury.
  • TJ Buchanan (WR, Elgin HS, @BeastTj3). The Elgin Wildcats (3-7, 3-5) fell to Cedar Park 55-0 to end their season. They were able to hold Tariq to one carry for -3 yards, two receptions for two yards, and one kickoff return for three yards. Season totals: 32 rushes for 216 yards, 5 TDs; two 2PT conversions; 52 receptions for 684 yards, 7 TDs; 15 KR for 188 yards; 4 PRs for 66 yards; 10 total tackles (8 solo, 2 assisted); 2 punts for 37 yards.
  • Ben Bywater (ATH, Olympus HS, @benbywater5). Olympus (8-3, 5-2) season is over. Season totals (minus playoff stats): 121 carries for 679 yards and nine TDs; 10 receptions for 77 yards; 75 tackles, 1 sack.
  • Keenan Ellis (WR, Bonita Vista HS, @Keenan_Ellis17). Bonita Vista (3-7, 2-2) defeated Eastlake on the road 20-12. Ellis had five receptions for 89 yards. Season Totals: in 7 games has 29 receptions for 678 yards (24.5 avg) and five touchdowns; nine kickoff returns for 235 yards (33.4 avg), including one 95 yard kickoff return for a score
  • Donovan Hanna (TE/DT, American Leadership Academy; @donnyd119). The ALA Patriots (10-1, 5-0) won their first round playoff game versus Wickenburg 56-37. Hanna had one reception for 15 yards, nine assisted tackles, and a punt. Season totals: 42 receptions for 780 yards, eight TDs; one carry for three yards; 23 tackles (7 solo, 16 assisted); 2 TFL; 1 sack; 6 punts for 223 yards (with 4 inside the 20); two kickoff returns for 8 yards.
  • Ammon Hannemann (S, Lone Peak HS; @Ammon_Hann1). Lone Peak (11-1, 8-0) defeated Jordan 59-37 in the 5A quarterfinals. Hannemann had his best game of the season with seven tackles and an interception. Season totals: 58 tackles; one interception; one reception for 7 yards
  • Bentley Hanshaw (TE/DE, Moorpark HS; @BentleyHanshaw). Moorpark (7-3, 1-2) dropped their regular season finale, falling to Calabasas 42-35. Season stats: 306 receptions for 506 yards, 6 TDS.
  • Tongi Langi (DB, Bingham HS; @Big_Tuna24). Bingham (12-0) defeated Lehi 37-14 in the 5A quarterfinals. Bingham remained at No. 17 in the national rankings (Real Prep Nation), and No. 1 in the Midlands region. Langi’s stats are not yet available. Season Totals: 1 punt return for 60 yards, 1 TD
  • Preston Lewis (DE/LB, Lone Peak HS, @plewis_8). Lone Peak (11-1, 8-0) defeated Jordan 59-37 in the 5A quarterfinals. Lewis’s stats are not yet available. Season totals: 27 tackles, 7.5 sacks, two interceptions
  • Jackson McChesney (RB, Lone Peak HS, @jackson21cheese). Lone Peak (11-1, 8-0) defeated Jordan 59-37 in the 5A quarterfinals. McChesney rushed 12 times for 95 yards and a touchdown, and caught seven passes for another 138 yards and two more scores.  He had 233 all purpose yards. Season totals:  92 carries for 666 yards, 10 TDs; 23 receptions for 349 yards; 2 TDs; 89 yard kickoff return for a TD.
  • Ryan Rehkow (K, Central Valley HS; @r_rehkow24). The Central Valley Bears (7-3, 4-1) fell to Richland 37-0 in the Washington State playoffs to end their season. Rehkow was 0-2 on field goals with a 51 yarder getting blocked. Season Totals: 5-11 field goals (long of 49 yards), 16-17 PATs, 26 punts for 1190 yards, long 64, 13 inside the 20
  • Isaac Rex (TE, San Clemente HS, @Isaac_Rex1). San Clemente (7-3, 3-1) fell to Mission Viejo 41-3 to end the regular season. Rex’s stats are not yet available. Season stats (in four games): 8 receptions for 92 yards, 1 TD
  • Seth Willis (OL, Newtown HS; @seth_willy). The Nighthawks (8-0, 4-0) defeated Notre Dame Catholic 49-7. Willis anchored an o-line that had 350 yards rushing. Season Totals: No stats

Class of 2018 commits

  • Campbell Barrington (OT/DE, University HS; @Campbel33563194). The University Titans (3-7, 0-5) defeated Pasco 48-6 to end their season. Barrington sat out this season with a chipped bone on his femur.  Season Totals: No stats
  • Brandon Ale Kaho (RB/LB, Reno HS; @Brandonkah0). The Reno Huskies (10-1, 4-1) defeated Carson 21-10 in the first round of the NIAA Class 4A playoffs. Kaho returned after sitting out last week with a concussion to rush for 122 yards and two touchdowns on 28 carries. Season Totals: 102 carries for 627 yards and 13 TDs; 6 receptions for 78 yards and 1 TD; 7-11 passing for 60 yards and an INT; 14 tackles (13 solo, 1 assisted); 2.0 TFL; 2 INT; punt; 4 PATs
  • Jaren Kump (OL/DL, Herriman HS; @jarenkump68). Herriman (5-5) season is over. Season Totals: 22 tackles, 2 sacks
  • Cameron Latu (DE/TE, Olympus HS). Olympus (8-3, 5-2) season is over. Season totals: 13 receptions for 158 yards, 2 TDs; 53 tackles; eight sacks
  • Nathan Latu (DE, Olympus HS; @LatuNathan). Olympus (8-3, 5-2) season is over. Season totals: 16 tackles, 1 sack
