Speedy JUCO transfer Mike’Quan Deane gets BYU Offer (Class of 2017)

BYU football looks to add some depth at the tight end position by making a scholarship offer to Mike’Quan Deane (Class of 2017) over the weekend.

Deane is a 6’4” 245 pound TE/WR who currently plays for Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College (Miami, OK).   As a freshman in 2015 he played in nine games and had 14 receptions for 127 yards (9.1 ypc) and three touchdowns.  He can run a 4.49 forty and a 10.83 100m.

Deane prepped at Tulsa Memorial High School, where as a senior he rushed for 1,172 yards and scored 14 touchdowns.  In one game he had 429 yards rushing with 6 TDs.  Out of High School he had recruiting interest from Arkansas, Michigan, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Tulsa, and scholarship offers to New Mexico and Northern Colorado.  Unfortunately, due to academic ineligibility, he was forced to go the JUCO route. Deane has overcome a lot and is the first in his family to attend college (you should check out this article to learn more about his incredible story).

Deane was rated 2-stars by Rivals out of high school but is currently unrated by Rivals, Scout, and ESPN. He holds scholarship offers from BYU, Nebraska, Pitt, South Alabama, Syracuse, UAB, and UCF and that list is likely to continue growing.  He is also being recruited by Alabama and Oklahoma State.
