BYU seeks to flip the Los Angeles native who has been committed to UCLA since last July. Johnson preps at Bishop Mora Salesian High School, where in eight games as a junior he had 52 tackles (33 solo), three passes deflected, one quarterback hurry, one tackle for loss, one sack, and two catches for 65 yards. He runs a 10.8-100m, blazing fast for someone his size, and also plays for the basketball team.
Johnson is rated 4-stars by Scout, and 3-stars by Rivals and ESPN (grade of 79). Scout ranks him the No. 2 OLB in the west. Johnson holds scholarship offers from Cal, Fresno State, Hawaii, Illinois, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oregon State, San Diego State, Utah, Washington, and Washington State. He is also being recruited by Arizona, Arizona State, Boise State, Michigan and Oklahoma. He committed to UCLA on July 24, 2015 but is still making college visits and exploring his options.
