The offers keep piling up for national recruit Owen Pappoe, who many consider the No. 1 freshman recruit in the nation. BYU is the latest of over 30 scholarship offers to the 6’1” 202 pound outside linebacker from Georgia (Class of 2019).

Pappoe preps at Grayson High School (GA), where he dominated as an eighth grader tallying 50 tackles (21 for loss) with 17 sacks, two interceptions, and scoring 16 total touchdowns. While he projects as an outside linebacker at the collegiate level, he has also played tight end, defensive end, and kick returner. He was named a MaxPreps Freshman All-American after recording 104 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, nine pass break ups, two forced fumbles, one blocked field goal, and one interception returned for a touchdown. He runs a 4.53 forty, can bench press 340 and squat 415, and received a SPARQ rating of 128.22—the highest rating at The Opening Atlanta in 2016 where he was camp MVP, and the highest SPARQ rating for any freshman ever.
Pappoe is too young to have been rated by Rivals, Scout, or ESPN, but that hasn’t stopped the offers from rolling in. He had over 10 offers as a 14 year old, most of those coming from the best programs in the country. He currently holds scholarship offers from Alabama, Auburn, Boston College, BYU, Cal, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, Memphis, Miami (FL), Michigan, Mississippi State, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio State, Penn State, South Alabama, South Carolina, TCU, Tennessee, Tulane, UAB, Vanderbilt, and West Virginia. In 2015 he reported that the Tennessee Vols were his dream school and that he intended to commit there if offered (which he was). However, since his recruiting has blown up he’s backed off from naming his top schools.
