Oglesby preps at Katy High School (Katy, TX), where as a junior he ran for 911 yards on 148 carries (6.2 avg) and scored 11 touchdowns. He also caught five passes for 50 yards, returned two punts for nine yards, and 15 kickoffs for 247 yards. He runs a 10.74 in the 100m.
Oglesby is not rated by Scout, Rivals, or ESPN. He has a scholarship offer from Montana State.

I caught up with Josh to ask him about his recruitment:
BYU Insider: Why did you choose BYU?
Oglesby: I feel like it was just the best fit for me. I felt really comfortable with the coaching staff and had a lot of trust on what they where telling me. They have a really good winning tradition and that is what I am coming from. It felt like I was already apart of the family and the coaching staff is leading this team in the right direction.
