Josh Weeks is a 6’4” 215 pound receiver on the BYU football team (Class of 2012). He greyshirted during the 2012 season and then served an LDS mission (Kennewick, WA), returning in time for the 2015 spring camp. He has shown some positive early impressions, and Coach Holliday told the Deseret News “He’s a big body with strong hands and he can run a little better than I thought. We got to work with his foot quickness and readapt him to the game. So he’s behind the other guys, but he’s been out of football for two years.” He had surgery in the spring to repair a small foot fracture but judging by this tweet, the surgery went well.
Nothing special, but I am only 2 weeks outta surgery! Who’d be down to see a #BYUfootball dunk contest? pic.twitter.com/PoG8tBCRPX

Weeks prepped at Show Low High School (AZ), where he rewrote the Arizona record books, leading some to speculate that he may be the best High School wide receiver in Arizona history. As a sophomore he had 47 receptions for 1,223 yards and 15 touchdowns. As a junior he caught 73 passes for 1,561 yards and 20 touchdowns as the Show Low Cougars won the 3A state championship. As a senior he caught 38 passes for 540 yards and 5 touchdowns, ran 130 times for 1161 yards and 13 touchdowns, and passed for 527 yards and 8 touchdowns. He was a MaxPreps All-American in 2009 and 2010 and invited to play in the Semper Fi All-American Bowl in 2011. He was also an AZFCA All-State selection in 2011 and an AZ Republic All-Arizona selection in 2009, 2010, and 2011. He set six Arizona high school records in his career, several of which still stand:
- Receiving yards in a game: 288 (3A)
- Receiving yards in a season: 1561 (3A)
- Receiving yards in a career: 3851 (3A)
- Receptions in a career: 187 (all classifications)
- Touchdown catches in a season: 20 (3A)
- Touchdown catches in a career: 46 (3A)
Off the football field Weeks was a star runner for the Show Low Cougars, setting school records in the 100m (11.07), 200m (22.03), and 400m (48.90) dashes while winning the state title (2012) in the 400 meters. He was also a four year letterman in basketball (3A All-State honorable mention), one of five National Football Foundation Scholar Athletes of the Year (with a 4.0 GPA), an Eagle Scout, and a three-year mentor at a camp for developmentally disabled adults.
Weeks was rated 3-stars by Rivals, Scout, and ESPN (grade of 78). He was recruited by Arizona, Arizona State, Florida, Florida State, Montana, Nevada, North Carolina, Northern Arizona, and Ohio State. He committed to BYU on December 18, 2010.
