Week 5 for High School football 2015 is now in the books. BYU also received three new commitments over the week, From Keaton Torre (QB, Bingham), Troy Warner (S, Mission Hills), and Max Tooley (S, Bountiful).
Here’s a quick look at how all BYU’s Class of 2016 (and 2017) commitments did.
Class of 2016 Commits (listed alphabetically)
Solofa Funa, LB/RB for Spanish Fork High School (Spanish Fork, UT). Spanish Fork was defeated by Springville 16-14 to fall to 3-2. FUNA STATS FOR GAME. Season stats (through first four games): 30 rushes for 151 yards, 3 TD; 17 tackles, 1 sack, 1 interception
Jaren Hall, QB for Maple Mountain High School (Spanish Fork, UT). Maple Mountain defeated Tooele 23-6 to get to 4-1. Hall went 9-15 for 127 yards rushed seven times for 69 yards. Season stats (4 games): 77-138 passing for 992 yards, 10 TDs with 6 INT; 48 carries for 308 yards and 2 TDs.
Aleva Hifo, CB/WR for Heritage High (Menifee, CA). Hifo had a 44-yard touchdown run as Heritage dismantled West Valley 56-6. Season Stats (4 games, incomplete): one 33 yard TD reception, one kickoff return TD, 2 TDs rushing.
Britton Hogan, LS for Olympus High School (Salt Lake City, UT). Olympus defeated Cyprus 43-0 to get to 3-2. Hogan caught an 18-yard touchdown pass. Season stats: LS; 1 catch for 18 yards, 1 TD.
Drew Jensen, QB/S for Brighton High School (Salt Lake City, UT). Brighton defeated Taylorsville 49-30 to stay undefeated thus far this season (5-0). Jensen is out with a PCL injury, but may be back in a week or two. Season stats (1 game): 8-24 passing (.333) for 142 yards and 1 TD with 3 INT; 6 carries for 3 yards and 0 TDs.
Wayne Kirby, DT/DE for Highland High School (Pocatello, ID). The Highland Rams squeaked by Madison 23-22 to stay undefeated. Kirby’s stats for the game are not yet available. Season stats (3 games, incomplete): 7 tackles, 1 FF, 1 FR, 3 sacks
Freddy Livai, DE for A.B. Miller High School (Fontana, CA). Miller defeated their in-town rivals Fontana High 36-14 to raise to 1-2 on the season. Livai had five tackles, a sack and a forced fumble.
Atunaisa Mahe, NG/G for West Jordan High School (West Jordan, UT). West Jordan defeated Cottonwood 19-13 to get to 3-2. Season Stats (4 games): No statistics
Darius McFarland, DE for Box Elder High School (UT). Box Elder lost to Highland 38-28 to fall to 1-4. McFarland had two touchdown runs of 5 and 1-yard. Season stats (5 games, incomplete): 5 rushing TDs, 2 receiving TD.
Keenan Pili, LB for Timpview High School (Provo, UT). Timpview destroyed previously undefeated Provo 42-7 to get to 4-1. Pili had four tackles. Season Stats (5 games): 25 tackles, 1 sack.
Skyler Southam, K for Wasatch High School (Heber City, UT). Wasatch defeated Payson to get to 4-1. Southam had a 30-yard field goal and six PATs. Season Stats (5 games); 17-17 PATs, 10-10 FGs (long of 46 yards).
Max Tooley, S for Bountiful High School (Bountiful, UT). Bountiful defeated Woods Cross 28-7 for their homecoming game to get to 3-2 on the season. The newest Cougar commit had an outstanding game rushing 26 times for 151 yards with two rushing touchdowns. He also had a tackle for the defense. Season Stats (5 games): 58 carries for 263 yards and 5 TDs; 1 tackle.
Keaton Torre, QB for Bingham High School (South Jordan, UT). Bingham defeated Copper Hills 64-0 to get to 4-1 on the season. Season stats (through 4 games, incomplete): 18-29 passing for 329 yards, four TDs, and 1 INT; 15 carries for -2 yards.
Jonah Trinnaman, WR for Snow College (Ephraim, UT). The Badgers defeated Scottsdale CC to get to 3-0. Trinnaman had a 99 yard kickoff returned for a touchdown. He also caught one six yard pass. Tirnnaman is currently ranked No. 4 nationally in the JUCO ranks for average kick return yards. Season stats (2 games): 1 rush, -6 yards, 0 TDs; 12-195 receiving, 3 TD; 7 kickoff returns, 259 yards.
Hank Tuipulotu, TE for Nation Ford High School (Fort Mill, SC). Nation Ford defeated Ridge View 41-36 to get to 4-1 on the season. Tuipulotu had another monster game with 13 catches for 197 yards and a touchdown. Season Stats (4 games, incomplete): 2-6 rushing, 1 TDs; 38-535 receiving, 4 TDs, one INT.
Troy Warner, S for Mission Hills (San Marcos, CA). Mission Hills defeated Poway 27-7 to stay undefeated (4-0). Warner sat for the second straight week as part of a two-game suspension for fighting in a game earlier in the season. Season Stats (4 games):
Class of 2017 Commits
Jackson McChesney, RB/WR for Lone Peak High School (Alpine, UT). Lone Peak stayed undefeated (5-0) with a 44-15 victory over Riverton. McChesney had an 8-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Season stats (through 4 games, incomplete): 22 rushes for 131 yards and 3 TDs, 13-204 receiving, 3 TDs.
