BYU becomes 17th school to offer 3-star offensive lineman Cody Shear (Class of 2017)

Cody Shear, a 6-foot-3 285 pound offensive lineman from Oregon received a BYU scholarship offer on Monday (Class of 2017).

Shear preps at Sheldon High School (OR), where he had 53 pancake blocks, 20 tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss, 1.0 sack, a fumble recovery, and a quarterback hurry.  He was a first-team All-League selection at left tackle and helped lead his team to a 10-2 record and a spot in the state semi-finals where the lost to eventual state champion Jesuit.

“I like to pass-block and run-block and I feel really comfortable doing either one,” Shear noted. “If I had to just choose one though, I’m probably better at run-blocking just because of my aggressiveness and how I like to punish guys and finish my blocks.”
