BYU gets a commit from long snapper Austin Riggs (Class of 2018)

Austin Riggs is a 6-foot-5 220 pound long snapper who made a commitment yesterday to play for the Cougars (Class of 2018) as a preferred walk-on.

Riggs preps at Eagle High School, where he handles long snapping duties as well as spending time at defensive end.  Last season he had 14 tackles (six solo), five tackles for loss, and three sacks. Riggs also competes for the track and field team where he was a state finalist in discus and he maintains a 3.70 GPA.

Riggs has not been rated by Scout, Rivals, or ESPN.  He has seen recruiting interest from Boise State, BYU, Idaho State, Utah, and Washington.  Riggs was recently selected as one of the Top 12 long snappers in the country (Rubio Long Snapping) and invited to the Elite Top 12 camp in Florida later this summer.  He has plans to serve an LDS mission following High School and will join the Cougars for the 2020 football season.
