Recruiting Profile: Siaki “Apu” Ika (DT/OL, Class of 2019)

Siaki “Apu” Ika is a 6-foot-3 295 pound defensive tackle and offensive lineman who was the third verbal commit for the BYU Football Class of 2019.

Ika preps at East High School and as a High School freshman already had D1 size at 6’3″ and 295 pounds.  BYU was his first scholarship offer and he didn’t need much time to mull over the offer—he committed on the spot.  Ika grew up in a hard core BYU family and has always been a fan and supporter.  He told BYU Insider that:

“BYU showed me love even at a young age.  That makes me feel that down the road the loyalty will always be there.  That’s a big part of why I gave a verbal so early.”

Ika is rated 2-stars by Rivals, and has not yet been rated by Scout or ESPN. BYU was Ika’s first scholarship offer, but his offer list now includes Utah State, Vanderbilt, and Wisconsin. He is also being recruited by Utah.  Ika is a member of the LDS church and is currently planning on serving a mission.

A few more things about Apu:

  • Given name is Siaki
  • Listens to LDS church songs and slow jams to calm down before games
  • Grew up playing various sports and still loves playing basketball
