BYU Basketball Profile: Cory Calvert (Class of 2012)

Cory Calvert is a 6’3” shooting guard for BYU who signed as part of the Class of 2012. He played in 2012-13 as a true freshman. Following his freshman season Calvert served an LDS mission in Boston, Massachusetts (2013-15), and he is currently a redshirt sophomore.

Calvert prepped at Chaparral High School (CO) where he was a four year letterman. As a sophomore he averaged 12.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, 4.7 assists and was named second-team all-league. As a junior he averaged 15.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.9 assists and earned first-team all-league and honorable mention all-state. As a senior he averaged 22.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 5.1 assists and led Chaparral to the 2012 5A state title. He was named the 2012 5A MVP in Colorado by the Denver Post and MaxPreps.com. He was also named first-team all-state, Continental League Player of the Year, and the Joint Effort Co-Player of the Year.

Calvert was rated 2-stars by Scout, and was unrated by Rivals and ESPN. He was recruited by BYU, Colorado State, Utah, and Utah State and was offered scholarships by BYU and USU.
