Brendan Bailey is a basketball Class of 2016 recruit that preps at American Fork High School. The swingman is the son of former Jazzman and 13 year NBA pro Thurl Bailey. He started as a freshman for the Cavemen and averaged 5.7 points and 1.7 rebounds per game. As a sophomore he became a three point specialist connecting on 50 three point attempts (1.92/game). Between his sophomore and junior seasons he grew four inches which resulted in a position change from shooting guard to small forward. His junior season he averaged 14.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 0.9 steals per game and was named to the 5A third team all-state. Comfortable and confident on the wing or in the post he is currently working on driving the lane and becoming more of an inside presence.
Bailey gave a verbal commitment to Arizona State on December 1, 2014. At the time of his commitment to ASU he told The Arizona Republic that “I just thought it was the best fit for me with the style of play that they play,” Bailey said. “I have such a great relationship with all the coaching staff. My sister goes there and she absolutely loves it. I just liked the atmosphere in general. The campus is beautiful.” After the ASU’s head coach Herb Sendek was fired Bailey reopened his commitment.
