Why BYU Fans Don’t Want to Miss the Polynesian Bowl this Weekend (and Official Visit Updates)

Last weekend Jay Tufele, Mo Unutoa, Lorenzo Fauatea, and several others visited Provo for both official and unofficial visits.  Tufele had a good time and recognized the uniqueness of BYU:

Unfortunately however, immediately following the visit Tufele had a Utah home visit, and he has an USC visit scheduled for this weekend after he competes in the Army All-American Bowl.  The 5-star prospect has to be considered a long-shot for BYU at this point.

The other two big-time prospects that visited (Fauatea and Unutoa) both revealed that they wear shorts in the snow, so… I don’t know what to make of that.

All three targets are off to the inaugural Polynesian Bowl this weekend where they will join BYU commits Mango Finau and Isaac Rex.  There will also be several other BYU targets at the Bowl, including: Mata Hola, Jordan Lolohea, Onesimus Lutu-Clarke, Isaiah Pola-Mao, Langi Tuifua, Aliki Vimahi, Chaz Ah You, Levani Damuni, Noah Elliss, Cyrus Habibi-Likio, Charles Moku Watson, Nephi Sewell, Miki Suguturaga, and Alden Tofa.

Langi Tuifua, Levani Damuni, and Charles Watson have announced they will be making their signing decisions during the game, which will be streamed live on ESPN 3 at 11:00 p.m. (EST).  With BYU as finalists for all three, this Bowl is certainly a game worth watching.

While there are several targets in the warmth of Hawaii for the weekend, there are several more out to enjoy the new snow of Utah Valley.  According to Scout.com, current verbal commits Tyler Batty, Ammon Hannemann, Preston Lewis, and Jackson McChesney should all be in Provo this weekend.  Targets Branden Smith, Kaleb Hayes, and Mason Fakahua are also thought to be arriving today for their official visits.

Between the Polynesian Bowl and BYU Official Visits it could end up being a massive weekend for recruiting.
