Getting to know incoming BYU football transfer, Butte College OL Tyler Little (Class of 2021)

Tyler Little is a BYU football signee for the Class of 2021, signing with the Cougs on June 24, 2021.

Little is a 6-foot-7 265 pound offensive lineman that prepped at Gridley High School (Gridley, California).

Little didn’t play football in high school.  His plan was to go to college on a basketball scholarship.  As a senior he averaged 17.1 points, 11.1 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game (MaxPreps).  He was named the Butte View League MVP (HUDL).

Following his prep career Little served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Chile and Houston, Texas.  Upon his return he planned to enroll at Yuba College, hoping to make the basketball team.  When Yuba announced they would not be having a basketball season due to COVID, Little began working out at his old high school in Gridley and reconnected with friend Jace Villapania who plays football at Butte College.  Villapania convinced Little to try out for the football team at Butte.

Little hadn’t played football since eighth grade, but quickly turned heads at Butte and his coaches started reaching out on his behalf to D1 football programs. He saw recruiting interest from Boise State, Utah, and Baylor, and committed to BYU following an unofficial visit.  He joins the Cougs for the 2021 season with five years to play four.
