Ty Burke is the most recent commitment to the BYU football program (Class of 2020), announcing his commitment yesterday via Twitter:

I owe this all to my parents, coaches, and every one who has supported me. I’m so excited to start this next chapter of my life! GO COUGAR’S pic.twitter.com/1H1YBqD0R7
Ty Burke preps at Syracuse High School, where as a senior he caught 45 passes for 787 yards and 12 touchdowns. On defense he recorded 44 tackles (33 solo), three sacks, four QB hurries, one fumble forced and another recovered, and two interceptions (with one returned for a touchdown). He also tallied 429 kick return yards. He was named first team all-region and co- all-purpose MVP. Burke plays basketball and runs track for Syracuse, placing third in the 2019 Utah State championships in both the 100 and 200m.
As a junior he suffered a leg injury that required major surgery and there were questions on if he’d even be able to keep the leg. Fortunately the surgery was a success and he appears to have kept the speed that led to being offered a track scholarship by Weber State. As a sophomore he caught 31 passes for 797 yards and 10 touchdowns and rushed for 111 yards and a score. On defense he recorded 56 tackles with five interceptions.
Burke is rated 2-stars by 247Sports. He is BYU’s 22nd commitment to the 2020 recruiting class, with plans to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints prior to enrollment. He’ll suit up for the Cougs in 2022.

I caught up with Burke to ask him about his recruiting.
BYU Insider: Why did you choose BYU?
Burke: I’ve been a Cougar fan my whole life, this is my dream school!
BYU Insider: What other schools were showing you love in the recruiting process?
Burke: Weber State and Southern Utah for football. I received a track scholarship from Weber State.
BYU Insider: What are some of your favorites?
Burke: My favorite TV show is The Office.
BYU Insider: What is one of your greatest accomplishment in sports?
Burke: My favorite sports moment came this year during our last region game. We won region as outright champs and it felt so good to earn that with my team and for our coaches. They all deserved it.
BYU Insider: What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
Burke: When I had what should have been season ending surgery my junior year, my mom told me “in life there will always be trials. You can either let them ruin you, or you can take them with a positive attitude and move forward trying to gain the most out of it.” She really helped me change my perspective. Because of her strength and guidance I was able to make it back for our last two games.
