BYU Football Profile: Tevita Mo’unga (Class of 2015)

mounga_tevita_ls1Tevita Mo’unga is a 6’1” 330 pound defensive tackle BYU football commit from Vista Murrieta (CA) High School (Class of 2015). He is projected as the #3 DT as a true freshman for the 2015 season. Mo’unga announced his commitment last September via twitter:

Mo’unga prepped at vista Murrieta High School, where as a senior he recorded 64 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, 14 quarterback hurries, and one forced fumble. He also threw the shot put and discus for the track team and was teammates with current BYU cougar Tyler Cook.

mounga_tevita_por2Mo’unga was rated 3-stars by Rivals, Scout, and ESPN (grade of 76). Scout listed him as the No. 11 defensive tackle in the west and No. 8 in California. Mo’unga held scholarship offers from Arizona, BYU, Colorado, Utah, Washington, and Washington State. He was also recruited by Vanderbilt. Mo’unga committed to the Cougars on September 24, 2014.
