Talin Togiai is the most recent commitment to the BYU football program (Class of 2022), announcing his commitment Tuesday via Twitter:

Togiai is a 6-foot-6 290 pound offensive lineman that preps at Rigby High School (Rigby, Idaho), where as a junior he made the High Country All-Conference first team as a defensive lineman (Post Register). He has been selected to play in the 2022 Polynesian Bowl. Togiai has also played for the Rigby basketball team (MaxPreps) and competed in the shot put and discus for the track and field team (Athletic.net).
Togiai is rated 3-stars by 247Sports, who rate him the no. 5 overall recruit from Idaho in the Class of 2022. He holds scholarship offers from Nebraska and Utah (247Sports). Togiai is the cousin of Tommy Togiai of the Cleveland Browns, and is the brother of Tanoa Togiai, who is an offensive lineman at the University of Utah. He does not currently have LDS mission plans and is expected to join BYU for the 2022 season.
I caught up with Togiai to ask him about his recruiting.
BYU Insider: Why did you choose BYU?
Togiai: I thought about how BYU could help me in my life with great education and careers if football isn’t my path.
BYU Insider: What other schools were showing you love in the recruiting process?
Togiai: Mainly Utah.
BYU Insider: What are some of your favorites?
Togiai: The Avengers movies, the book Wonder, music groups like Queen, Frank Sinatra, Elvis, and Celine Dion, and I love Reeses Puffs.
BYU Insider: What is one of your greatest accomplishment in sports?
Togiai: Being able to play varsity all four years and winning a state championship in the journey.
BYU Insider: What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
Togiai: You can’t be an above average person if you don’t do above average things.
BYU Insider: Who is a current player that you seek to emulate on the field?
Togiai: I watch all the linemen I can in college and the NFL.
BYU Insider: Is there anything else you’d like Cougarfans to know about you?
Togiai: I’m just excited to be able to come to Provo.
