Mulitalo is a 6-foot-3 320-pound defensive lineman who played the last two seasons at Snow College (JUCO) in Ephraim, Utah. As a sophomore in 2022 he had 12 tackles (eight solo) with 3.5 tackles for loss, and two sacks in six games. In his freshman season he had five tackles (three solo), with one tackle for loss (Snow College profile).
Mulitalo prepped at Skyridge High School (Lehi, Utah), where as a senior he had 40 tackles (20 solo), with 9.5 tackles for loss, six quarterback hurries, 5.5 sacks, two passes defended, two fumble recoveries, three forced fumbles, and two interceptions with 114 return yards (MaxPreps).
Mulitalo is not yet rated by 247Sports. Out of high school he had scholarship offers to Colorado State, New Mexico, and UNLV. He joins the Cougs as a preferred walk-on. I caught up with Mulitalo to ask about his recruitment:
BYU Insider: Why did you choose BYU?
Mulitalo: BYU makes me feel like I’m home. The coaches are great men and mentors, whether it be in football or even outside of football. They have all treated me like family–that’s something special I had to be a part of. BYU will benefit me on the field, in the classroom, and in life.
BYU Insider: What other schools were showing you love in the recruiting process?
Mulitalo: I had offers from Ottawa University of Arizona and Texas Southern
BYU Insider: What are some of your favorites?
Mulitalo: I love the Rush Hour movies. If you haven’t seen them, you have got to go watch. Growing up the music I listened to was R&B and the oldies like The Stylistics, Karyn White, The Escorts, Champaign, Babyface, the Bee Gees, Bread, and even New Kids on the Block.
BYU Insider: What is one of your greatest accomplishments in sports?
Mulitalo: It isn’t like a big reward, but in high school I was the only D-Lineman to score a touchdown every year. No small feat to accomplish that at Skyridge, one of the best schools in the state.
BYU Insider: What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
Mulitalo: My mom told me and my brothers every day “When you put the Lord first, everything else will fall into place how it needs to be.”
BYU Insider: Who is a current player that you seek to emulate on the field?
Mulitalo: I would like my style of play to be like is Chris Jones (DT, Kansas City Chiefs). He has good hands, footwork, eyes, IQ for the game, and he’s just a fast and powerful player.
BYU Insider: Is there anything else you’d like Cougarfans to know about you?
Mulitalo: I’m all in and I’m excited to be a part of a community like this!! Cougar Nation LETS RIDE !!!!
