BYU Football Recruiting Spotlight: Reese Silofau (Class of 2019)

silofau_tnBYU took advantage of their BYE week by sending coaches all over the country on recruiting trips. One of those trips resulted in a scholarship offer–to Reese Silofau. Silofau’s offer from BYU is his first, which isn’t surprising as he’s just now wrapping up his freshman season for California powerhouse Oaks Christian (Class of 2019). He is a 6’2” 280 pound defensive lineman who made an impact this season and the Cougars offer is sure to be the first of many.

In his first eight games at Oaks Christian Silofau has 44 total tackles (25 solo, 19 assisted) for an average of 5.5 tackles per game; five tackles for loss, one sack, and two quarterback hurries. He was named to the Eastbay Youth All-American team at an 8th grader.

Silofau is not yet rated by Rivals, Scout, or ESPN. MaxPreps list him as the No. 11 recruit in California and the No. 68 overall recruit nationally in the Class of 2019. While the Cougars are Silofau’s first offer, there will certainly be many more offers coming over the next few seasons. He has already been shown interest by Oregon, USC, Stanford, Texas A&M, and UCLA.
