High School. Rice prepped at Faith Lutheran High School (Las Vegas, NV), where he started his football career as a junior. As a junior he caught 17 passes for 377 yards and five touchdowns (MaxPreps). He also ran a 10.64 100m for the track team (Athletic.net) and played on the basketball team. His high school did not participate in football his senior season over COVID.
Recruitment. Rice was rated 3-stars by 247Sports (0.7970), who rated him the no. 20 overall prospect from Nevada for the Class of 2021. He was recruited by Colorado, Dixie State, Northern Arizona, and Weber State. Rice committed to BYU on August 7, 2020.
Personal. Rice’s father Rodney was a BYU defensive back from 1986-1988.
