Zombo is a 6-foot-1 185-pound wide receiver that preps at Liberty High School (Peoria, Arizona). As a senior he led the Desert Valley conference and was no. 5 in all of 6A with 49 catches for 973 yards and 10 touchdowns (MaxPreps). He was named to the Arizona 6A All-State first-team.
As a junior, Zombo had nine receptions for 75 yards and a touchdown, with a 12-yard carry, two tackles, and a fumble recovery. He runs a reported 4.51 forty with a 35-inch vertical (HUDL), and last track season he competed in the 100m, 200m, 4x100m relay, and 4x400m relay (Athletic.net).
Zombo was recruited by Foothill junior college, Arizona State, and Colorado State. He will join the Cougs as a preferred walk-on. I caught up with Zombo to ask him about his recruiting.
BYU Insider: Why did you choose BYU?
Zombo: It is a great place to become a man on-and-off the field. BYU is a good fit because they will develop me and it gives me a good opportunity to meet new people.
BYU Insider: What other schools were showing you love in the recruiting process?
Zombo: Arizona State, Colorado State, and Foothill (JUCO)
BYU Insider: What are some of your favorites?
Zombo: My favorite movie is Astro Boy and my favorite musical artist is Steve Lacy
BYU Insider: Who is a current player that you seek to emulate on the field?
Zombo: I look up to Jameson Williams (WR, Detroit Lions), and Jamarr Chase (WR, Cincinnati Bengals) is a player whose game I try to copy.
