
Prep football started this week in Arizona and Washington and continued for the rest of the BYU football commits. In total there are 18 verbal commits to the BYU football program: 14 players committed as part of the Class of 2023, three in the Class of 2024, and one in the Class of 2025. Here’s how they did this weekend in high school football:

The top BYU recruits in Utah, California, and Texas this weekend included:
- Lakes High School (Washington, 1-0) started their season off September 2nd with a 50-23 win over Kentwood. Pulalasi was the star of the show, rushing 10 times for 47 yards and three touchdowns and catching two passes for 13 yards and another score. He also returned a kickoff 37 yards, a punt 38 yards, and had five solo tackles with two tackles for loss

- Saimone Davis had four receptions for 45 yards and four solo tackles in his second game for Colleyville Heritage
- Newest commit, Josiah Phillips of Sierra Canyon had his best game of the young season with three receptions for 119 yards and a touchdown

Owen Borg (LB, Class of 2023)
This week: Corner Canyon (UT 6A, 3-1) defeated West Jordan 47-14. They are currently ranked no. 63 nationally. Borg missed the game with health concerns but will be back in-action soon (MaxPreps, Deseret News).
Season Totals: In two games Borg has 17 tackles (11 solo), one interception.

Ryder Burton (QB, Class of 2023)
This Week: Springville (Utah 5A, 3-1) suffered their first defeat of the season, losing to Riverton 22-15. Stats are not yet available for Springville but Burton did have two touchdown passes in the game (MaxPreps, Deseret News).
Season Totals: In two games Burton is 17-of-31 passing for 261 yards and two touchdowns to one interception. Nine carries for 23 yards and two touchdowns.

Dallin Johnson (DT, Class of 2024).

Matthew Fredrick (TE/DE, Class of 2023).

Miles Hall (ATH, Class of 2023)
This Week: Skyline (Utah 5A, 2-2) fell to Bountiful 16-14. Hall had a quiet four receptions for 64 yards and no defensive stats for the game (MaxPreps, Deseret News).
Season Totals: In four games Hall has 17 receptions for 391 yards and five touchdowns, one carry for zero yards, and two kickoff returns for 34 yards. On defense he has 39 tackles (18 solo), two passes defended, one forced fumble, and two tackles for loss. Hall is ranked no. 10 in the state in total receiving yards (no. 4 in 5A).

Pokai Haunga (WR, Class of 2023).
This Week: Timpview (Utah 5A, 4-0) defeated Bingham 49-30 on the road. Haunga did not play due to injury (MaxPreps, Deseret News).
Season Totals: In one game Haunga has two receptions for 65 yards and a touchdown. On defense he four solo tackles, one tackle for loss, one sack, and one 35-yard interception.

Texas Prep Football
There are two BYU football commits from Texas: running back Landen Chambers (Fossil Ridge), and athlete Saimone Davis (North Texas). Texas football starts the last week of August.
Landen Chambers (RB, Class of 2023).
This Week: Fossil Ridge (Texas, 1-1) fell to Braswell 48-21 on the road. Chambers had 20 carries for 87 yards and two receptions for nine yards (MaxPreps, HUDL).
Season Totals: In two games Chambers has 46 carries for 233 yards and two touchdowns, and six receptions for 54 yards.

There is one BYU football commit from Washington state: athlete Leo Polalasi (Lakes HS). Washington football starts football the first week of September.
