There are 17 verbal commits to the BYU football program: 13 players committed as part of the Class of 2023, three in the Class of 2024, and one in the Class of 2025. Here’s how they did this weekend in high school football:

Recruiting target Smith Snowden had a monster performance in Skyridge’s shutout of Herriman (43-0). He had just one tackle because they wouldn’t throw the ball anywhere near him, and when they finally did, he made them pay with two interceptions returned 77 yards.

Texas football also got under way this weekend and Class of 2023 commit Landon Chambers picked back up where he left off last year. The senior running back had 26 carries for 146 yards and two touchdowns as well as four receptions for 45 yards.

Owen Borg (LB, Class of 2023)
This week: Corner Canyon (UT 6A, 2-1) defeated Bingham on the road 38-28. Borg missed the game with health concerns but will be back in-action soon (MaxPreps, Deseret News).
Season Totals: In two games Borg has 17 tackles (11 solo), one interception.

Ryder Burton (QB, Class of 2023)
This Week: Springville (Utah 4A, 3-0) defeated Bountiful on the road, 18-17. Burton had three touchdown passes (MaxPreps, Deseret News).
Season Totals: In two games Burton is 17-of-31 passing for 261 yards and two touchdowns to one interception. Nine carries for 23 yards and two touchdowns.

Pokai Haunga (WR, Class of 2023).
This Week: Timpview (Utah 5A, 3-0) defeated Crimson Cliffs 49-14 on the road. Haunga had seven solo tackles and one tackle for loss (MaxPreps, Deseret News).

Texas Prep Football
