Prep Tracker, Week 11: New commitment Ellis delivers for Bonita Vista with five receptions for 161 yards and two touchdowns

prep_trackerSeveral Cougar Commits participated in playoff action this weekend. Jackson McChesney had five carries for 53 yards and a touchdown to help Lone Peak advance in the Utah 5A playoffs.  Meanwhile Ben Bywater’s 12-yar rushing touchdown was not enough to help Olympus advance.

Other notable performances for the week include: TJ Buchanan, who had two carries for 50 yards, a tackle, and seven receptions for 70 yards and a touchdown; new Cougar commitment Keenan Ellis, who had five receptions for 161 yards and two touchdowns in Bonita Vista (CA)’s first league win; and Donovan Hanna, who had seven receptions for 93 yards and a touchdown, two kickoff returns, a tackle, and two punts—including a 60 yarder.

Class of 2017 commits (listed alphabetically)

  • Tanner Baker (TE/DE, Alatoona HS, @TBAKE32). Allatoona (5-4, 5-1) defeated River Ridge 45-14. Baker is out for the season with a knee injury.
  • TJ Buchanan (WR, Elgin HS, @BeastTj3). The Elgin Wildcats (3-6, 3-4) fell to Rouse 37-34. Tariq had two carries for 50 yards, seven receptions for 70 yards and a touchdown, and one solo tackle. Season totals: 31 rushes for 219 yards, 5 TDs; two 2PT conversions; 50 receptions for 682 yards, 7 TDs; 14 KR for 185 yards; 4 PRs for 66 yards; 10 total tackles (8 solo, 2 assisted); 2 punts for 37 yards.
  • Ben Bywater (ATH, Olympus HS, @benbywater5). Olympus (8-3, 5-2) fell 21-28 in double overtime to Box Elder in the opening round of the 4A playoffs, thereby ending Olympus season.  Bywater had a 12-yard rushing TD in the first overtime to prolong the game, but it wasn’t enough. The rest of Bywater’s stats are not yet available. Season totals (minus playoff stats): 121 carries for 679 yards and nine TDs; 10 receptions for 77 yards; 75 tackles, 1 sack.
  • Keenan Ellis (WR, Bonita Vista HS, @Keenan_Ellis17). Bonita Vista (2-7, 1-2) defeated Otay Ranch 26-10 for their first league win. Ellis had five receptions for 161 yards and two touchdowns. Season Totals: in 6 games has 24 receptions for 589 yards (24.5 avg) and five touchdowns; nine kickoff returns for 235 yards (33.4 avg), including one 95 yard kickoff return for a score
  • Donovan Hanna (TE/DT, American Leadership Academy; @donnyd119). The ALA Patriots (9-1, 5-0) ended their regular season with a 45-22 victory Safford. Hanna had seven receptions for 93 yards and a touchdown, had two kickoff returns for eight yards, one assisted tackle, and had two punts for 109 yards incuding a 60 yarder. Season totals: 41 receptions for 765 yards, eight TDs; one carry for three yards; 14 tackles (7 solo, 7 assisted); 2 TFL; 1 sack; 6 punts for 223 yards (with 4 inside the 20); two kickoff returns for 8 yards.
  • Ammon Hannemann (S, Lone Peak HS; @Ammon_Hann1). Lone Peak (10-1, 8-0) defeated Northridge 51-7 in the first round of the 5A playoffs. Hanneman’s stats are not yet available. Season totals: 14 tackles; one reception for 7 yards
  • Bentley Hanshaw (TE/DE, Moorpark HS; @BentleyHanshaw). Moorpark (7-2, 1-1) fell to Newbury Park 35-14. They will conclude their regular season on Friday at Calabasas.  Hanshaw’s stats are not yet available. Season stats: 28 receptions for 384 yards, 6 TDS.
  • Tongi Langi (DB, Bingham HS; @Big_Tuna24). Bingham (1-0) defeated Hunter 49-9 in the first round of the 5A playoffs. Bingham remained at No. 17 in the national rankings (Real Prep Nation), and No. 1 in the Midlands region. Langi’s stats are not yet available. Season Totals: 1 punt return for 60 yards, 1 TD
  • Preston Lewis (DE/LB, Lone Peak HS, @plewis_8). Lone Peak (10-1, 8-0) defeated Northridge 51-7 in the first round of the 5A playoffs. Lewis recorded no stats. Season totals: 1 sack
  • Jackson McChesney (RB, Lone Peak HS, @jackson21cheese). Lone Peak (10-1, 8-0) defeated Northridge 51-7 in the first round of the 5A playoffs. McChesney had five carries for 53 yards and a touchdown. Season totals:  80 carries for 571 yards, 9 TDs; 16 receptions for 211 yards; 89 yard kickoff return for a TD.
  • Ryan Rehkow (K, Central Valley HS; @r_rehkow24). The Central Valley Bears (7-2, 4-1) fell to Gonzaga Prep 28-19 in their regular season finale. Rehkow’s stats are not yet available. Season Totals: 5-9 field goals (long of 49 yards), 16-17 PATs, 26 punts for 1190 yards, long 64, 13 inside the 20

Class of 2018 commits

  • Campbell Barrington (OT/DE, University HS; @Campbel33563194). The University Titans (2-7, 0-5) fell to Mead 35-18. Barrington is out for the season, with a chipped bone on his femur.  Season Totals: No stats
  • Brandon Ale Kaho (RB/LB, Reno HS; @Brandonkah0). The Reno Huskies (9-1, 4-1) defeated McQueen 34-21 in their regular season finale. Kaho’s stats not yet available.   • CJ Alatini (DE, Orem HS; @AlatiniCj). Orem (5-7) defeated Corner Canyon 23-19 in a Region 7 play-in game, and then lost at Springville 42-17 to bring their season to a close. Alatani’s stats are not yet available. Season totals: No stats
