Borg is a 6-foot-2 195-pound linebacker that preps at Corner Canyon High School (Draper, Utah), where as a junior he had 116 tackles, eight tackles for loss, and four interceptions (MaxPreps.com). As a sophomore he played in six games and had 16 tackles (11 solo) with two tackles for loss, a pass defended, and a sack. Borg also competes in the 100-meter, 200-meter, 400-meter and javelin for the track and field team, winning the state title his junior season as part of the 4×400-meter relay team (Athletic.net).
Borg is rated 3-stars by 247Sports (84), who rate him the no. 20 overall prospect from the state of Utah for the Class of 2023. He holds scholarship offers from Air Force, Colorado, Columbia, Nevada, Penn, San Diego State, and Utah State with recruiting interest from Stanford, Utah, and Washington State.
I caught up with Borg to ask him about his recruiting.
BYU Insider: Why did you choose BYU?
Borg: I chose BYU because I grew up the biggest BYU fan. I love the culture down there and everything that they stand for and I’ve always wanted to be apart of it. BYU is a great fit because I feel like I can do big things there. I don’t just want to be on the team—I want to go there and have a major impact and help carry on the winning tradition that BYU has.
BYU Insider: What other schools were showing you love in the recruiting process?
Borg: Utah State, Stanford, SDSU, and Air Force.
BYU Insider: What are some of your favorites?
Borg: I love playing Mario Cart with my three brothers. We’re all so competitive and it gets heated. It’s always a good time. And I love breakfast cereal. I could eat cereal all day, every day.
BYU Insider: What is one of your greatest accomplishments in sports?
Borg: Being a three-time state champ–twice in football, and once in track. It was awesome to run the 400-meter on the BYU track to win state.
BYU Insider: What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
Borg: “Learn how to enjoy the work”—my dad
BYU Insider: Who is a current player that you seek to emulate on the field?
Borg: Demario Davis (Linebacker, New Orleans Saints)
Borg is the 12 commit to the BYU class of 2023 and second linebacker recruit, joining 3-star Pierson Watson from Arizona.
