Michael Davis comes up big for Chargers in NFL wild card round, BYU Football Pro Tracker

In the wild card round of the NFL post-season there was only one Cougar in action–the rest got a week 1 bye. Next week we can expect to see Davis, KVN, Daniel Sorensen, and Taysom Hill all in action. Meanwhile Williams, Warner, Ansah, Kaufusi, and Denney are done for the season as their teams did not make the playoffs.

Michael Davis (CB, Los Angeles, No. 43). Davis started at cornerback in LA’s 23-17 victory over Baltimore.  He had two solo tackles and two key 4th quarter pass breakups to help the Chargers advance. Davis played all 61 defensive snaps (100%) and eight more on special teams (25%). Season Totals: 10 games as a starter, seven games as a substitute; 42 solo tackles, 10 assisted tackles, 10 passes defended, one forced fumble

Davis is now in an interesting position with the Chargers as he becomes a free agent after the playoffs. Davis had a fantastic off-season and pre-season in 2018 but then played sparingly in the first several NFL regular season games. He worked his way into the starting lineup and has put up pretty solid numbers. Moving into the playoffs he’s continuing to show his value to the team hoping to land a long-term contract. This week certainly helped with that.
