
Logan Taylor had a busy weekend, committing to join BYU in track and football on Friday and then winning the Arizona state title for the 110 meter hurdles on Saturday.

Taylor preps at Maricopa High School (Maricopa, AZ), where as a senior his stats were off the charts. He ended the season with 63 tackles (34 solo), with 22 for loss, 25 quarterback hurries, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries, a blocked punt, and 17 sacks with a strip sack returned for a touchdown (highlights posted below). He was named to the All-county first-team
In track he runs the 110 and 300 meter hurdles, is part of the 4×400 meter team, and does the high jump. He has been hand timed running a 4.47 forty meters. He is joining BYU as a preferred walk-on in football and in track.

I caught up with Taylor to ask him about his recruiting.
BYU Insider: Why did you choose BYU?
Taylor: Because there is a great football culture that surrounds me with people who have similar goals and standards. I just love it there.
BYU Insider: What other schools were showing you love in the recruiting process?
Taylor: I had a few D2 offers and other D1 preferred walk-on opportunities.
BYU Insider: What are some of your favorites?
Taylor: I love the whole Marvel cinematic universe loved Endgame. Love the Harry Potter books. I like all classic rock my favorite bands include Guns N’ Roses and Metallica.
BYU Insider: What is one of your greatest accomplishment in sports?
Taylor: I got defensive MVP at my school my senior year and led the state in sacks with 17.5.
BYU Insider: What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
Taylor: That no matter what you do or how hard you work to have fun because life in sports is all for nothing if you aren’t having fun.
BYU Insider: Who is a current player that you seek to emulate on the field?
Taylor: For football it’s definitely JJ Watt. Because he’s a monster a great player but and even better person and I love that about the guy. For track it’s Devon Allen because he was able to become an Olympian right out of college.
