Getting to know new BYU commit, CB Korbyn Green (Class of 2022)

Korbyn Green announced his commitment and signed with BYU (Class of 2022) on national signing day (February 2, 2022), as reported on Twitter:

Green is a 6-foot-1 175-pound cornerback that preps at Owasso High School (Owasso, Oklahoma), where as a senior he had 27 tackles (20 solo), nine passes defended, 12 targets, and two interceptions.  Green runs a 4.41 forty, a 10.7 100 meter, and has a 32-inch vertical (HUDL).

Green is rated 3-stars by 247Sports who have him as the no. 29 overall recruit from Oklahoma in the class of 2022. He received scholarship offers from Central Missouri and Washburn with recruiting interest from Baylor, Kansas, Kansas State, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and TCU.  Green has signed and will join the Cougars for the 2022 season.

I caught up with Green to ask him about his recruiting.

BYU Insider: Why did you choose BYU?
Green:  Because of the coaches and the relationship I was able to build with them.  They treated me like I was their main priority and that meant a lot.

BYU Insider: What other schools were showing you love in the recruiting process?
Green:  Oklahoma, Nebraska, TCU, and Kansas were all showing me a lot of love throughout the recruiting process, but BYU took that to a different level.

BYU Insider: What are some of your favorites?
Green:  Lil Durk or FCG HEEM for music, The Pursuit of Happyness (movie), and my favorite cereal has to be Lucky Charms

BYU Insider: What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
Green:  My momma always just tells me to “be me.”  She tells me I shouldn’t try to change myself to fit in with the crowd, but to be comfortable in my own skin.

BYU Insider: Who is a current player that you seek to emulate on the field?
Green:  Definitely Jalen Ramsey (cornerback for the LA Rams) because I’m an outgoing and versatile player that can guard any position on the field.  That said, my closest comparison measurables-wise is probably Carlton Davis (cornerback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers).
