BYU Basketball Recruiting Profile: KaJon Brown (Class of 2017)

KaJon Brown made a verbal commitment yesterday to suit up for the BYU basketball team next season.

Brown is a 6-foot-5 185 pound combo guard originally from Harvey, Louisiana.  He prepped at Helen Cox High School where he averaged 14 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game as a senior while leading Helen Cox to the District 8-5A title and the third round of the 2015 state playoffs. He was named to the All-District teams as a junior and senior.

Following high school he signed with the University of Tulsa, where as a freshman he started one game and appeared in six for a total of just 18 minutes.  He then transferred and played his sophomore season at Lee College and averaged 8.8 points and 3.1 rebounds, 1.4 assists, while shooting 45.8% from the field and 34.9% from behind the arc.  He is reputed as a lock down defender who can guard all five positions.

Brown held scholarship offers from Southeast Missouri State and Tulsa out of high school, and at the time of his BYU commitment was also being recruited by Penn State.  He has two years of eligibility with a redshirt available.
