- 2021 (Redshirt). Played in four games, had 18 kickoffs of 1,123 yards (62.4 avg), and went 2-for-3 on field goal attempts (third was blocked), and 11-for-11 on PATs for 17 total points. He also had one assisted tackle.
- 2020 (COVID Freshman). Played in one game and went 3-for-4 on PATs for three total points

High School. Smith prepped at Brighton High School (Salt Lake City, Utah), where 37 of his 42 kickoffs as a senior were touchbacks for a 68.1 yard average. In his two seasons at Brighton he did 88 kickoffs for 4,992 yards with 63 touchbacks. He also punted 77 times for 2,909 yards (37.8 avg), went 11-of-19 on field goals (.600) and 49-of-55 on PATs (.900) for a total of 82 points (MaxPreps). He was the Region 7 special teams MVP as a senior and was named to the All-State first-team.
Recruitment. Smith was rated 2-stars by 247Sports (79) and was rated the no. 30 overall prospect from Utah for the Class of 2018. Smith committed to BYU on June 14, 2017 as a preferred walkon.
