Brown is a 6-foot-3 285-pound offensive lineman that prepped at Lone Peak High School (American Fork, Utah). Brown anchored an offense that put up 49 points to upset nationally ranked Corner Canyon in the state championship game. He was named to the 6A All-State first team.
Brown is rated 3-stars by 247Sports (0.8581), who rate him the no. 13 overall player from Utah in the Class of 2022. He received scholarship offers from Idaho, Indiana, Morehead State, NC State, Virginia, and Weber State, with interest from Air Force, Baylor, Oregon State, and Utah.
Brown’s older brothers Terence (OL, 2008-11) and Rhen (WR, 2009-11) both played for BYU under coach Bronco Mendenhall. Joe originally committed to play for Mendenhall at Virginia but then flipped his commitment after Mendenhall announced he was stepping away from football. Joe has plans to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and will join the football team for the 2024 season.
