Brown prepped at Mira Mesa High School (San Diego, California), where as a senior he had 78 carries for 652 yards and six touchdowns, 33 receptions for 540 yards and three touchdowns, 19 tackles (17 solo), a sack, a quarterback hurry, one pass defended, and 10 kickoff returns for 291 yards and a touchdown (MaxPreps). He was a All-CIF second-team selection and also competed in Track and Field.
Recruitment. Brown was rated 2-stars by 247Sports (78), rated the no. 360 overall prospect from California for the Class of 2019. Brown committed to BYU on February 6, 2019.
