Boren prepped at Highland High School (Salt Lake City, Utah), where as a senior he had 53 carries for 737 yards and six touchdowns, 10 receptions for 208 yards, seven kickoff returns for 189 yards (27.0 yard avg), five punt returns for 43 yards, 35 tackles (32 solo), and three tackles for loss (MaxPreps). He runs a reported 4.38 forty time.
Recruitment. Boren was not recruited by BYU, he joined the team after a walk-on tryout in 2019. He started at receiver but then moved over to the defensive secondary in 2020.
