
Timpanogos standout defensive end Hunter Greer is the latest to make a commitment to play for the BYU Cougars (Class of 2018).

Greer preps at Timpanogos High School (Orem, Utah), where as a senior he had 80 total tackles (60 solo), with THIRTY TWO tackles for loss, 11 quarterback hurries, five pass deflections, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, a blocked field goal, and 14.5 sacks. He also plays basketball and competed in track and field for Timpanogos.
Greer has seen recruiting interest from Dixie State, Idaho State, Southern Utah, Weber State, and Utah State. He will join BYU as a preferred walk-on and plans to play after returning from an LDS mission in 2020.

BYU Insider: Why did you choose BYU? Why do you feel BYU is a good fit for you? What do you most look forward to in suiting up for the cougars?
Greer: I felt a really great connection with the coaching staff. I love the standards they have in their program and believe they are headed in the right direction. I think BYU will be the place where I can develop the most as a player, but more importantly into a better man. I absolutely love this game and am excited to work hard and play in my home town.

BYU Insider: What are some of your greatest accomplishments?
Greer: I’m still working on my life accomplishments, but I take pride in being a good family member and a Priesthood Holder. On the field I’m just trying to help my team become the best that it could be. Leading 5A in regular season with 14.5 sacks was pretty fun too though.
BYU Insider: What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
Greer: My dad taught me that in all circumstances you do your best and give your all. You keep commitments and give 110%.

Greer: I value being a good example of what I stand for, and I will represent this program and school well. I will strive to become a good role model for those people I come in contact with. I am so grateful for my family and coaches who have helped me pursue my dreams, and I love my mom.
