Nathan DeBeikes is a 6’2” 193 pound outside linebacker for the BYU football team (Class of 2013). He served an LDS mission to right out of high school to England (July 2013-July 2015) and will join the team as a freshman this fall.
DeBeikes prepped at Thousand Oaks High School (CA), where he starred as a running back, wide receiver, and linebacker. As a sophomore he was awarded Rookie of the Year for the Lancers and made the All-Marmonte League second-team. As a junior linebacker he had 49 tackles, two sacks, three interceptions, two pass breakups, and a fumble recovery. On the offensive side he rushed for 1,313 yards and 11 touchdowns, to go with his 240 receiving yards and two touchdowns. As a senior he rushed for 954 yards and 12 touchdowns, caught for 456 yards (1553 yards of total offense) and two more scores, had 171 kickoff return yards, kicked two PATs, and had 101 total tackles. He was named to the All-CIF first-team (2011, 2012), All-Marmonte League first-team (2011, 2012), the All-Ventura County first-team (2011, 2012), the All-Academic Ventura County First-team (2012), the LA Daily News All-Star team (2012), and the Ventura County Star team (2012). He also managed a 3.75 GPA.
DeBeikes was rated 2-stars by Rivals, Scout, and ESPN (grade of 69). He was recruited by Army, Boise State, Boston College, Colorado, Iowa State, Lehigh, Northern Arizona, Pennsylvania, Princeton, SDSU, UNLV, Utah, Washington, Washington State, and Yale. Debeikes committed to the Cougars on May 18, 2012.
