BYU’s first new commitment of signing day is Hunter’s DE Lorenzo “Zo” Fauatea (Class of 2017)

Zo Fauatea is a 6-foot-4 265 pound defensive end that committed to the Cougars and signed his national letter of intent this morning (Class of 2017).

Fauatea preps at Hunter High School, where he plays both basketball and football.  As a senior defensive tackle he had 32 tackles.  He also carried the rock three times for seven yards and a touchdown.  Fauatea was named the Region 2 defensive MVP, and as a member of the 5A All-State first team.

Fauatea is rated 3-stars by Scout, Rivals, and ESPN (Grade of 73). He held scholarship offers from Boise State, BYU, Hawaii, Oregon State, Utah, Utah State, and Weber State.  Fauatea was originally committed to Oregon State, but reopened his recruitment on December 21, 2016.  He is reportedly planning to serve an LDS mission this fall.
