Recruiting Profile: Joe Critchlow (QB, Class of 2017)

Joe Critchlow is a 6-foot-4 210 pound quarterback from Franklin, Tennessee who flipped his Pre LDS mission commitment from SUU to BYU.

Critchlow prepped at Franklin High School, where he had 32 consecutive games with a touchdown pass (every game as a sophomore, junior, and senior). As a senior he completed 176 of 265 passes for 2317 yards and 25 touchdowns, and was named the District 11-AAA offensive player of the year and 2nd team Mid-State.  He was named All-District 11-AAA both his junior and senior seasons. Over his career he was 415-683 passing for 5703 yards and 68 touchdowns, with a QB rating of 108.5. He was also awarded the Admiral William P. Lawrence Award, given to the top high school football scholar-athlete in Middle Tennessee based on scholarship, sportsmanship, and value to team.  He also was a three-year basketball starter for Franklin and graduated with a 4.3 GPA, 31 ACT, and an Eagle Scout.

Critchlow was rated 2-stars by Scout and Rivals, and was not rated by ESPN. He held scholarship offers from Alabama Birmingham, Mercer, Southern Utah, Tennessee-Martin, and Vanderbilt (who rescinded their offer after his mission plans were known).  He was also recruited by Memphis, Southern Miss, and Western Kentucky.  Critchlow committed to Southern Utah pre-mission but signed a national letter of intent with BYU on February 1, 2017.  He will be available to play for the 2017 season.
