Devin Kaufusi is a Class of 2015 BYU football commit. The 6’7” 240 pound outside linebacker committed to the cougars following his sophomore season (on August 24, 2013). He prepped at Timpview High School (Utah), where he was part of three consecutive state championship teams. As a senior (2014) he contributed 80 tackles, 14 sacks, two fumble recoveries, and 10 pass breakups, and was named to the 4A Region 8 All-Region and All-State first teams (Deseret News and Salt Lake Tribune). He also played two seasons for the Timpview basketball team.
Kaufusi was rated 2-stars by Rivals and 3-stars by Scout and ESPN. ESPN gave him a grade of 76 and ranked him the No. 13 overall recruit in the state of Utah. Due to his family ties and super early commitment, recruiting interest was limited to BYU and Utah. Devin is the son of BYU defensive line coach Steve Kaufusi and younger brother of two other BYU student athletes: Bronson (football) and Corbin (basketball). He plans to serve an LDS mission this fall and will join the team in 2017.
