Devin Downing scored 15 times for American Fork last season.  On Father’s day he scored another commitment for BYU football:

Downing preps at American Fork High School, where as a junior he had 79 receptions for 1298 yards (16.4 avg.) and 15 touchdowns.  He also returned four kickoffs for 60 yards, six punts for 25 yards, and had two solo tackles. 

Downing is rated 3-stars by 247Sports and ESPN. He holds a scholarship offer from Air Force and has seen recruiting interest from Arizona State, Cal, Utah, and Utah State.

I caught up with Downing to ask him about his recruiting.

BYU Insider: Why did you choose BYU?

Downing:  It’s always been my dream school.

BYU Insider: What other schools were showing you love in the recruiting process?

Downing:  Air Force, Cal, Utah, and Utah State

BYU Insider: What are some of your favorites?

Downing:  Classic sports movies like The Sandlot, Remember the Titans, etc.  I also like hip hop.

BYU Insider: What is one of your greatest accomplishment in sports?

Downing:  I’ve been fortunate to be part of many different championship teams growing up in football, baseball, and basketball.  Playing in the state championship in football was an amazing experience that I’ll never forget.

BYU Insider: What is the best advice you’ve ever received?

Downing:  Coach Sitake says “always listen to your parents.”

Downing:  BYU’s current receiver Shumway
