Dean Jones is one of the recent commitments to the BYU football program (Class of 2020), announcing his commitment earlier this week:

Jones preps at North Canyon High School, where as a junior he recorded 25 tackles (19 solo), 10 pass breakups, two tackles for loss, and an interception in five games. He also returned six kickoffs for 69 yards. As a sophomore he had 43 tackles (20 solo), and 1.5 sacks.

Jones is rated a 3-star composite by 247Sports. He has seen recruiting interest from Arizona State, Cal Poly, Hawaii, Northern Arizona, Redland, San Diego State, Utah, Utah State, UTEP, Weber State, and Wyoming.  Jones plans to join the team for the 2022 season after serving an LDS mission.

BYU Insider: Why did you choose BYU?

Jones:  The coaches there are supportive and positive.  I love the school and the people.

BYU Insider: What other schools were showing you love in the recruiting process?

Jones:  Utah, Hawaii, Wyoming, Utah State, UTEP, and ASU.

BYU Insider: What is the best advice you’ve ever received?

Jones:  Compete only with yourself and the only type of motivation is self-motivation.

BYU Insider: Who is a current player that you seek to emulate on the field?

Jones:  I model my game after Greedy Williams with the Browns.

BYU Insider: Is there anything else you’d like Cougarfans to know about you?

Jones:  I love my family and I love football. Football is my life and I sleep, eat, breath football.
