De-Committed: Keaton Torre (Class of 2016)

Keaton Torre, a 6’4” 182 pound quarterback, has now officially de-commited from BYU.  The news broke via twitter and was confirmed by the Deseret News on December 30th. Torre has experienced a real whirlwind in being recruited as he originally committed to Louisville but then de-commited as he moved from Oklahoma to finish out his high school ball in Utah.  He committed to BYU in September and made arrangements to graduate early, planning to enroll at BYU as early as next week.  Nate Slack on Twitter probably summed it up best when he said:

Torre prepped at Santa Fe High School (Edmonds, OK) where as a sophomore he completed 104 of 161 passes (.646) for 1295 yards with nine touchdowns and six interceptions. In 2014 (junior season) he threw for 1527 yards with 10 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He relocated after his junior season and played his senior season as backup QB for the Bingham Miners. He spent most of his senior season injured but saw action in three games as starting quarterback and a few more in various other capacities. He also plays baseball for the Miners.

Torre was rated 3-stars by Rivals, Scout, and ESPN (grade of 79). ESPN list him as the No. 4 prospect in the state, while Scout have him as the top Quarterback prospect from Utah and the No. 9 prospect in the west. ESPN had him as a 4-star quarterback but mysteriously downgraded him to 3-stars in the off-season when he decommited from Louisville and relocated to Utah. Torre held scholarship offers from BYU and Louisville (who he decommitted from in March). He was also recruited by Arizona State, Arkansas, Auburn, Baylor, Boise State, Cal, Kansas, Kansas State, Kentucky, Missouri, Oregon State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Tennessee, Texas, TCU, Texas Tech, Tulsa, Utah, Utah State, Vanderbilt, and Washington. Torre committed to the Cougars on September 13, 2015.  He planned to graduate early and enroll at BYU in January 2016.  He has not yet made a decision regarding serving an LDS mission.
