Jones prepped at American Leadership Academy (Queen Creek, Arizona), where as a senior he had 70 tackles (33 solo), with two tackles for loss, one forced fumble, and one interception (MaxPreps). He was named to the 3A All-State and All-Region first-teams while helping his team to a 13-1 record and a 3A state title.
Recruitment. Jones was rated 3-stars by 247Sports (0.8123), who rated him the no. 54 overall prospect from Arizona in the Class of 2020. He was recruited by Arizona State, Cal Poly, Hawaii, Northern Arizona, Redland, San Diego State, Utah, Utah State, UTEP, Weber State and Wyoming. Jones signed with BYU on February 5, 2020.
